Our Christmas Present.....

Our soldier, David, finally arrived home safe and sound a couple of days ago. There is no other gift we wanted for Christmas than his safe return. Our daughter is ecstatic. so is he, and so are we. Now, they can finally be "newlyweds". We will never ever forget how difficult this year was with his deployment and the lessons learned. And we will never ever forget each and every soldier who is doing his duty and serving our country.

May God Bless all of our troops and bring them home safe. And for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, they will never be forgotten.

Single Digits and Thanksgiving

We "think" we are down to single digits now...with our soldier, David. You never know with the military, and of course, we cannot rely on exact dates. All we know is that he is coming home soon....and two days from now will be Thanksgiving, and there will be a place set for him at the table.

David will be the one who we will bless, pray, and thank the most this Thanksgiving...for all he has given while he has been over there in the "sandbox".

It's such a good feeling to know that it is almost over. I might actually be able to sleep again.
I can hardly wait to hug his neck!!!

My heart and thanks go out to all of our soldiers. Whoever reads this....if you have a soldier over there...send them a Thanksgiving email and let them know how much you appreciate them. I think the main thing our soldier's need is to know that they are loved, missed, and appreciated.

God Bless our troops.....

Project "Valour-It"

A noteworthy project that is receiving some well deserved attention. Read about it more over at "Some Soldier's Mom" blogspot.

http://www.somesoldiersmom.blogspot.com/

In honor of our soldiers and in honor of Veteran's day, I made my donation. Whatever political persuasion, or beliefs about this war, our soldiers are our loved ones, and deserve every bit of acknowledgment, recognition and support that this project is providing. Their sacrifices have been more than most can imagine.

Keep it going and God Bless Our Troops!

Hunting for IED's

There was an article published very recently about hunting for ieds. It's the battalion (467th) that our soldier is with. Provides a good description about what their missions are like.

I thank David and his brothers of the 467th and all of our soldiers everyday for their dedication and hard work.

May God bring them all home safe.

Last Mail Call

No more care packages to be mailed to our soldier after November 15th. Stacey over at "Keep My Soldier Safe"http://mysoldiermichael.blogspot.com/ has written the same...no more mail to her soldier after Nov. 1st.

Dear God in heaven, does this mean they are finally coming home? We are holding our breath and praying that it is so. It has been a brutal year. I swear, I think have aged 5 years during this one year only.....the sleepless nights, checking latest coalition casualites every morning, checking emails in the middle of the night, waiting to see David pop into our buddy window, enduring blackouts when there have been casualties in his area, grieving for families and their soldier(s) who gave the ultimate sacrifice, supporting our soldier when he has told us of losing a brother there.

I am so very proud of our soldier and all of our soldiers.

God Bless us all.

Iraqi Children

David sent us this pic earlier this week. He talked about how good it makes him feel when they go through villages while on their missions and the treats he and his comrades give to the children, and how the kids look forward to our soldiers coming through their town. It helps him to know he is making a difference for them. This pic is of a two kids he often sees when he goes through a particular village....they are there smiling and waving, and David gives them rme's (ready made meals). Our soldier has such a big heart and he loves children.

God Bless our Soldiers! They make a difference over there.

On the road again....

David is "back on the road" (missions) after being blown up last week. He sent this pic today. When I saw it, I thought about Willie Nelson's song "On the road again". He is in good spirits and likes being out on the road doing missions. God Bless our Soldier!!! He is the BEST!

I've been tagged...

MilitaryMom tagged me. Supposed to provide 5th sentence of 23rd post....but I do not have that many posts on my blog yet (new blogger)......so here is 5th sentence from my first blog on this blog. Speaks for itself.

"We give him our news from home and hugs and "mwaahs"".

Tag, whoever reads this blog, you are it!
